At CMPartners, we’re proud to work with clients whose impact reaches beyond their own organisation. Bangalow Film Festival (BFF) is a registered charity and independent not-for-profit founded and run by Bangalow locals, and we’re pleased to share their story as they continue to grow and welcome community support.

Deeply rooted in the spirit of the Northern Rivers, BFF has grown from an ambitious grassroots initiative into a nationally recognised celebration of cinema, welcoming acclaimed Australian and international filmmakers, exclusive premieres and visitors to Bangalow each year.

More than a traditional film festival, BFF creates a space where stories spark conversations and audiences can connect directly with filmmakers and artists in an intimate, laidback setting. Through initiatives such as Made in the Northern Rivers, the festival also supports local creatives to collaborate on new works rooted in the region.

Across eleven days, the festival transforms Bangalow into a vibrant cultural hub, with world-class cinema, live music, special events, industry conversations, family programming, exhibitions and memorable shared experiences. Its impact also reaches beyond the screen, creating valuable opportunities for local hospitality businesses, volunteers, emerging creatives and students across the region.

BFF also works closely with the NSW Department of Education to deliver workshops and special screenings to hundreds of students from 15 regional schools.

As the festival continues to grow, initiatives such as the Green Frame Nature Documentary Award – Australia’s first award dedicated exclusively to nature documentaries – reflect BFF’s ambition to position the Northern Rivers as a place where culture, creativity and environmental leadership meet.

As a registered charity and independent not-for-profit, Bangalow Film Festival is made possible through the generosity of partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers and audiences. Contributions help keep the festival accessible, expand opportunities for local creatives, attract outstanding guests, support education programs and invest in initiatives that benefit the region.

If you believe in the power of arts and culture to enrich communities and inspire new ideas, you can support Bangalow Film Festival through a donation via the Northern Rivers Community Foundation.
